If you are going to have an interview, simply remember that it is not a test. Instead, it is a good time for admission officer to know you more and an excellent opportunity for you to the college better. Not every college offers interviews because the staff that are solely devoted to that. Students who emerge most vividly in an interview are those who know themselves best. They are on time, polite and have researched what is expected on interview.  Selective schools will require you to send them letters of recommendations.  They have more value when they are written by people who know best the student such as his or her high school teachers and counselors.  They talk about the student’s personal qualities, character, intellect, and motivation.

The blank page or blank screen terrorizes many and this step of writing an application essay causes more anxiety and many tend to procrastinate it.  The essay is the first step in the application process where you speak to the colleges directly and tell them who you are and what you care about.  Whether it is personal essay or short – answer essay, you need to write well and your voice, keep it personally by being honest and open, use specific details to make yourself distinctive. Briefly, your essay should be organized, focused, polished, vivid, personal , and meaningful.
