Key Components of College Admission
- Academic documents – These are your high school or university academic records which admission officers refer to as your transcripts when they are making their decisions.
- Standardized Test scores – Almost all international students who have not completed their education from non- speaking English countries or where the level of English as a medium of instruction is deemed to be low , they are required to submit standardized exams like SAT, ACT, GMAT, GRE as well as English language tests like TOEFL , IELTS or DUOLINGO. No university provides score cutoffs, so you have to meet the required scores.
- Essay or Statement of Purpose – You need to convince the university admission by telling them about who you are, what you want to study and why. What are your future plans and why you think you are the fit for the college you are applying to. You shouldn’t create stories; rather a self- reflective insight is want matters most.
- Letter of Recommendation Students recommenders should be their former teachers or counselors – who know them well and can talk about their academic strengths but also their personal qualities and achievements. Students shouldn’t wait until the last minute to request these important documents.
- Non – Academic Activities – Extracurricular activities such as being a leader, a volunteer or participating in charity projects and win a wards will add a distinctive quality to your application and universities consider it instead of focusing only your academic and test scores.
