As you embark on the journey of starting your application, ask yourself this question first and for most: You Am I?  Research yourself and create a preliminary list of colleges to apply to.  Never prioritize only highly selective colleges because this will not multiple your chances of being admitted.  Rather your final list of 5- 10+ should be a “first choice.” Make sure you look at schools’ difficulty admission and their cost.  In fact, what you really need is that acceptance letter – the positive outcome.

By visiting classrooms, libraries, and other premises you get a chance to meet people and more about the college on your mind. You can also visit your college virtually by visiting college website or read about it. College visit provide crucial information for making a good match.  Students should know that there is no magic number of schools for an application list. All the need is a group of colleges that will boost their chances of admission. Eight to ten colleges is a good number though it all depends on other factors including individual factors and the application fee.
